Houston Space Center

On our drive from Kemah to the next park we passed a shuttle and as we were running ahead of time we decided to stop and check it out.

We had found the Space Center Houston building, which is the actual center where mission control is situated, so when you hear actors in space saying "Houston, we have a problem" they're speaking to the people that work here.

Independence used to be called Explorer and never went into space. It's just a replica.

The Shuttle Independence is the one atop the aircraft. Seeing this made me realise that when airlines tell you off for checking in overweight luggage I know that it's BS as the plane can obviously carry way more than they tell us.

There are a couple of other models in the grounds of the facility. Due to a lack of time we didn't go in but a quick read has highlighted some involvement from Disney and mock ups of Star Trek vehicles to enjoy.

Whilst three of us were having an explore, Tal had remained back. As a group we had decided to skip lunch but Tal had decided to jump into McDs for a quick drink. When we got back we found him in there finishing off a sly Filet-of-Fish, citing it was some sort of promotion as an excuse! This gave us some good comedy wind up material for the next few days.

This one's for you Tal!
