Dillon

Day 17 was another long drive day taking us from the town of Dillon where we'd finished up the day before through to Salt Lake City. With just one main park on the way, Glenwood Caverns, a single alpine coaster, and not much else to fill the day we knew this was a day that would be spent mostly in the car.

Located in the Colorado rockies Dillon was our stop over and the night before there was a showing of Goonies taking place at a small amphitheatre, which I watched whilst eating all the Voodoo Donuts and some local beer that they were serving. Goonies was a great choice and a nice callback to 2014.

Before heading out in the morning I decided to take a little walk around Ptarmigan Lake which Dillon sits beside. Here's the amphitheatre.

A pano of the lake, and a beautiful part of the country.

There were lots of swifts buzzing about. Photographing them was hard.

Taking a little walk around the nearest peninsula

There was a temporary jetty but it wobbled a lot!

A rather nice star to the day.

This was our hotel and with no air-con the place did give us a fan, which was needed.

and being Colorado don't be too surprised when you see advertisements like this.

This was one of the best hotel stops on the trip, none of the others offered such a stunning view.
