SpeedZone

Our final leg of a rather long day of driving took us into the city of Dallas with it's multi-coloured skyline and complex roads that we got lost on a few times before reaching our final park of the day.

Speedzone was the final place added to the park and ironically the nearest to a hotel as this day's hotel was just across the express way and with it being open late it was easy to squeeze in. My reason for including this into the route was because this one has a 6-line dragster strip attraction and I figured a little bit of competition within the group would be a good thing.

The place is a racing themed FEC with a couple of go-kart tracks and the drag race ride out the back.

Top Eliminator Dragster is the racing ride and having charged up the game card we made our way over where the previous race was just coming to and end.

A pano of the shot.

You get 3 races in which you have to accelerate when the light hits green and then shift up a gear when you hit the right speed. The fastest time wins. It's more a big reaction test than a race per se, but it's a lot of fun.

I won the first two with Thomas getting disqualified for starting early and Christof was constantly late, however in the final race something went very well with Christof who blasted into the lead getting the fastest time of the 3 races and coming in first overall. On the downside he somehow broke the car and couldn't be returned to the start line. The rest of us had to sit and wait whilst the staff went out and attempted to fix it before bringing him back.

So it was a quick stop but a fun one. Even if you have a spare half hour and there are no queues do give this a go.

There was no coaster of the day today as we only rode 1 and it was a bit rubbish.
