Kemah Boardwalk

Kemah Boardwalk was the first of the parks that I had been to before but being home to a single coaster was one that I felt obliged to run again.

We parked up as close to the park as we could get but a jobsworth traffic controller made sure we stayed put on the sidewalk until he decided it was time for us to cross. He made us feel like kids on a school crossing, just without the lollipop, he probably had a gun or taser instead.

This park is owned Landry's who also own the Galveston pier, so it's clear they've got this part of the state mopped up. They bought a bunch of restaurant chains like the Saltgrass one here.

The first wooden coaster Boardwalk Bullet was really intense in 2008 and I made a comment then that the ride is probably tearing itself apart. The laying of fresh timber made that comment justified and this time around they were the smoothest part of the tracks. The older wood was noticeably rough, but more in a powerful way than a painful one.

For a country that doesn't really have a history worth celebrating it's refreshing that Texas does even if it was less than 200 years ago and mostly war related. I do like this plaque though.

Whilst the others rode this a few times. I decided to go for a wander.

The steak restaurant looked great, if a little light on clientele.

OMG!, It's a bear!

I love the band playing on the 4th August, you Slags! and Velcro Pygmies is a great name too.

This is probably really interesting if you're a cowboy, a little depressing to the rest of us.

There's a small train ride that runs around most of the complex.

Arty, farty shot!

The Larson Fire Ball is a ride that has become suddenly abundant, which is great for the guys that make it however the ride is getting a little stick in 2016 after Six Flags bought a load of them and branded them as rollercoasters. Larson is based in the state so it's not a surprise to see them here.

Their Rockin' Tug variant was brightly coloured and looked like something out of Buzz Lightyear's toy set.

I braved the heat to explore the park in detail...

...whilst the others looked for somewhere cooler to once again escape the heat.

Whilst Thomas and Tal rode a few more times. I went around the perimeter to get some more photos. It's not an easy ride to photo, this is perhaps the best place outside of the queue line.

Christof just playing it cool.

The park has a giga!

and that was Kemah boardwalk, a quick stop due to the queues being fairly short and the operations being solid. 2 parks in and we were already feeling the heat.
