Mountasia

It is fair to say that when our group plans the trips we research heavily with an aim to make the trip as full as we can get it and we aim to ride as many rollercoasters as we can fit in. During the last two trips we focused on fairs and found lots of new rides through those.

Outside of the trips I enjoy finding new theme parks and rides through the Google Earth tool. Most people will rely on websites such as rcdb and coaster-count to do their research for them but those sites aren't complete by any means.

This was proven by me finding a new rollercoaster in Texas of all places. This was particularly special as with such a huge enthusiast presence in the states you would expect new rides to be known about, it would seem odd that a Brit would have to tell them what was on their door step.

I found this one in the Google data. As well as documenting parks with coasters I also track other amusement parks and I was double checking them when I spotted a new oval image within a park called Mountasia. I am fortunate to have a group that is keen to visit unconfirmed places, there are a number of so called enthusiasts who would get pissed if they were led to nothing.

The park, like a few we had seen earlier, is an FEC with rides in the back.

And my investigations had paid off as there was another Miner Mike rollercoaster out back. It was identical to the one we had ridden in Houston.

The ride does have an upper height limit, so it meant a conversation with the centre manager to see if we could be allowed to ride it. It did take a little convincing but showing photos of us riding the other one gave us a yes, and even better knowing we were enthusiasts they offered to waive the ride fee.

However when we got to the ride, the operator told us it was down due to there being an issue with the car engaging the lift hill. So close, but the staff couldn't have been nicer to us so as a thank you back we stuck around and spent some money on food and drink.
Our hotel that night seemed quite proud of their fresh remote controls. I have no idea what they're doing with them here.

Coaster of day 5 had to be Titan. Sorry New Texas Giant but you just weren't good enough...
I don't recall us stopping completely like they did on this video.
