Breckenridge Center

Our first stop took us to the Breckenridge Ski Resort, a short drive from our hotel

Skiing is obviously the main draw but in the Summer they have a few hillside activities including an Alpine Coaster.

We hadn't come into the resort via the cable car choosing instead to drive up (we missed that this was how we were supposed to reach it when we got up there). This meant that having reached the alpine we were told we had to buy a ticket and the ticket office was quite a walk away.

Racing toboggans, which were open today.

The cost of the rides up here were on the expensive side with the day pass taking the "Most expensive day" award from Seaworld. One go on the Alpine cost in excess of 20 bucks, which annoyed us but I get they were wanting to incentivise people to stay here, which wasn't in line with our plan.

So we rode it and then got annoyed again when we realised this was an alpine installation with the auto-brake system in place, which completely killed our ability to ride it at any enjoyable speed whatsoever; a shame.

Elsewhere the resort looked ok and whilst the others headed back to the car ready to get to Glenwood, I had a quick run around the resort searching for a toilet and a quick look around for anything else but there was nothing that caught my eye.

So Breckenridge, a place for people with money to burn, and not a good place for those who just want to make a brief stop.
