Fun Plex

Nebraska has just one theme park in the entire state, which fortunately is close to the only FEC. For the completists Nebraska does have a state fair with a coaster also but that has very limited opening. After our resisted visit to Skatedaze we were hoping for a better reception here at the park, Fun Plex.

And we were welcomed very positively. Yay!

The park is part amusement park, mostly waterpark with the latter attracting the crowd due to the heat. Their festival named pun was a little inappropriate but amusing.

The main coaster here is a Zyklon and it looked impressive. The city of Omaha has some pretty severe height restrictions which makes putting big rides up here a bit of a mission for those that wish to try.

The ride was in great condition and running very well. The operators were doing a great job although they had to push the empty cars through the station and the loaded cars out of the station. Doing that all day must be tiring, even more so in the heat and again with us in the car.

The ride was really good and we had a few goes on it as the queue was short.

There is a second coaster but it was one of those troublesome go-gators located in a kiddie section, and clearly sign posted with a "no adults" clause :(

You need to be under the line. So you'd only get this if you sacrificed your legs below the knee. None of us were prepared to do that

3 of the group were happy to let it go. .

Tal was prepared to try to make an attempt to ride this, but realising he was the only one he reluctantly conceded defeat. Skatedaze had taken the fight out of us and as a group we weren't up for another battle for such a crumby coaster.

So we had a quick walk around the park to see what else there was but nothing caught our eye, and it was time to head off south out of the state. Nebraska was a tough hit for us and in hindsight I don't think  the rides were worth the detour, but they were ones that not many had been to so that made it a bitter pill that was easier to swallow..

During the drive we stopped for dinner at a branch of Sonic which is a drive up burger place. It took us a little while to figure out how to order and the staff, intrigued by our accents left their stations and gave us the personal service instead, wanting to know where we were from and why we'd come to their little back pocket of the country. It's little things like this that make me realise my hobby is a good one.
