Cadillac Ranch

Day 12 was the hardest trip to plan due to there being very little parks on the route. We definitely wanted to visit Joyland, another evening-only park in Lubbock, Texas, but there wasn't much else if driving from Amarillo, which is what we were doing.

But over the months that followed we agreed on a few things to add in.
One interesting point, today's drive would take us from one end of the I-27 to the other; an interstate that isn't interstate as both ends reside in Texas.

With us not needing to be in Joyland til late and our first addition residing just outside Amarillo, we had another opportunity for a lie-in, which was welcome at this point on the trip.

Cadillac Ranch has been in place since the mid 70's and based on the number of cars that had pulled up beside it, seems to be a popular place to visit for those who find themselves in Amarillo.

The installation features a number of Cadillac cars, buried in a line, at an angle that supposedly matches that of the Giza Pyramids. I'm not sure why.

A small armoury had been left for people to add their own touch to the spraying but with a number of kids having already grabbed them we didn't bother writing anything.

It was also impossible to get a photo without someone else in it, maybe if I have time I'll photoshop some of these...(I won't have time)

So, a nice quick free stop that's worth a visit if you're visiting Wonderland or Amarillo.
