Kansas City

Day 10 would take us from Kansas City down through Kansas and into Oklahoma. The big park would be World of Fun and we'd finish with another pizza place with a coaster in it but before doing either of those we thought we'd do a little sight-seeing around the city of Kansas City first.

But first we had to tick off Cracker Barrel from Tal's "Places to eat at" list and with a branch across the road we were more than happy to forego the usual hotel breakfast for a big enough breakfast to fill us with a day's worth of calories in a single meal.

Squeezing ourselves into the car the four of us headed into town. The first place to stop was one of the last things I found prior to us flying and a location I think most enthusiasts don't know about. Walt Disney grew up here and worked at this location for a few years. Prior to starting his company he worked here to produce small cartoons for cinemas called "Laugh-O-Grams". It is rumoured a mouse that made a home in one of the drawers would inspire him to create Mickey Mouse a few years later... but that could be an urban legend. That aside the studio remains, adorned with cartoons from other artists as a shrine to him. It's a shame it sits empty and the city haven't made more of it.

Some graffiti we passed by on the way to the next location.

This is the World War 1 Liberty Memorial located on a hill top south of downtown.

I would tell you if this car looked stupid or not but that would be a spoiler.

A couple of views from behind the tower looking towards downtown.

Built in 1926, the tower has a strange Egyptian thing going on, which I don't understand the reasons for.

Even the sphinx statues were face palming.

A common thing in America is to donate money for a paving stone. I first saw this in Atlanta but was also being done at this memorial.

More street art that we drove past on the way to our final stop.

I thought this was the best themed library when Tal brought it to the groups attention very early on in the planning. However when we got there we found it was just the library's car park that got the face lift. A little disappointing but still the best car park I've ever seen!

Sightseeing aside it was time to head to the theme park.
