Air Force Chapel

To break up the long drive into Denver we found a couple of things to stop at. The first was found by Tal and is a rather cool looking chapel in an air force academy.

After clearing security and avoiding the inevitable 5-star rating that would have come had we just driven in we made our way to the chapel. I still find it odd that this term is used for the disabled in the US.

For the first time on the trip it rained quite heavily but it had stopped just as we arrived at the chapel base.

and looking like something out of Battlestar Galactica this is the multi-denominational Air Force Chapel.

Despite looking quite futuristic it was actually built in the early 1960's

It was named a National Landmark in 2004

and it was closed!

Elsewhere there were a small number of aircraft sculptures.

and whilst the others were taking their photos (I tend to run on ahead) I spent some time trying to get close ups of local magpies that were taking advantage of the stopped rain to go worm hunting.
