Windpower Center

An admittedly weird stop for a coaster enthusiast but on a day that was difficult to fill we thought we'd put it in anyway. Lubbock had recently run a poll for "The Most Boring City in the US" and this always featured highly articles suggesting what to do in the city, so whilst not expecting anything majorly surprising we dropped by.

It's quite easy to find given the theme.

There's usually a charge to enter but we were fortunate that today it was being waived following the completion of a new model railway exhibit inside.

It was fair to say these guys knew there fans, there were all sorts on display in what was a large series of hangars.

The model railway was pretty long but had no consistency in it's trains. It looked like they went with what they could get and what would fit on the track.

This was my favourite pun of the trip.
I called this photo, "A fan and not a fan"
(to be honest the pace of the trip was getting to all of us and I was super appreciative of Thomas and Tal for doing the driving, so any respite they chose to take was up to them - Christof and I were lucky to be able to sleep in the back of the car should we have chosen to).

In another room there was a large display of mill-stones, which given they're usually at the base of windmills made sense.

A ridiculously large mural in what looks to be becoming a dining area. Impressive!

and some more shots of outside, quite a selection I'm sure you'll agree.

and, yes, they did have a proper European style windmill too.

So that was the musuem, not really our thing but we spent a good hour or so here. What I liked about it was that having been to the Rollercoaster Museum earlier and seeing that at the start of it's journey, compared to this one which was well on it's way, it gave us a nice idea of what the museum could become if given the right investment and contribution.
