Cliff's Amusement Park

Time for the park and the big one today was "Cliff's Amusement Park", a park that opened in the 60's being initially called "Uncle Cliff's Familyland" and then "Uncle Cliff's Amusement Park". At some point in the 80's they decided to get rid of the "Uncle" and "Cliff's Amusement Park" remained.

The park is fairly sizeable and looked like 2 parks joined together: a water park to the left and big park to the right.

They had the western-themed stuff down to a T.

The first coaster was a wonderful looking Galaxi coaster.

Damn! These pinfari rides are just not being kind to us.

So we had to find another first coaster to ride.

The star flyer would offer a pretty good view of the mountains close to Albuquerque!

Yet another carousel that looks a lot like the others.

So our second attempt at the first coaster of the day was The New Mexico Rattler. This is the coaster that marks the death of makers CCI who went bust half-way during the construction of this, leaving the park to complete the ride themselves.

Kudos to the operator who ran the ride really well even with a broken foot.

So the ride was pretty relentless and fun to ride; I rode it a few times and the others rode it more. The second half with long turns felt more powerful than the more conventional out and back first half.

It's a Larson Loop amusement ride. We know now that we don't refer to it as a coaster now.

This is a cute sign!

In the run up to the park Cliff's announced a new coaster, another spinning SBF Visa ride, so a nice bonus ride for us. This one wasn't that outstanding; I'm sure we're already bored of these rides!

Elsewhere, the park had an alright selection of rides. No stand out flat rides, just stuff from a catalogue.

The wooden coaster is pretty good though!

and so that was Cliff's. A good stop, and to be honest if you're a coaster enthusiast and you're in Albuquerque then you're probably here for this park.
